St John’s Church is a small church with a big heart. Built in 1892, our unique corrugated iron building has stood at the heart of the community for over 130 years. Rooted in faith and rich in heritage, the Tin Tabernacle is a place where people come together for worship, connection, and support. Services are held on the first four Sundays of each month at 11 am, and Morning Prayer is held every Thursday morning. All are welcome!

St John’s has been part of Adlington life since 1892. Known locally as the “tin tabernacle” for its quirky metal walls and cosy wooden interior, it’s a place full of character and community memories—loved by locals for generations.
Open during fair weather months, our outdoor coffee shop isn’t just a place to grab a drink—it’s a hub of connection and care, with every cuppa helping to support the church’s ongoing mission.
Your generous donations help support those in need—whether to The CORE Pantry in Macclesfield or directly to the church, every contribution makes a difference.
The CoRe Pantry is a member-based scheme where members pay a small weekly subscription and in return they can choose good value food from a range including chilled goods, fresh and tinned products as well as a small range of household items. Please do come along to see for yourself the fantastic variety of food on offer.
